British actor Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion while filming the upcoming Marvel film ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ on Friday in the United Kingdom. The injury, described as minor, resulted in Holland taking a break from filming for several days as a safety measure. No other individuals were harmed in the incident.
Tom Holland sustained a mild concussion during filming on Friday, while performing an action sequence for the film. Tom Holland will be away from the set for a few days to recover. Details about how the injury occurred have not been disclosed, but no other cast or crew members were affected.
Sony and Marvel Studios, co-producing ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, will meet on Monday to evaluate next steps for production, as per Variety. The studios have not released a statement regarding potential delays or changes to the release date, emphasising that cast safety remains a priority.

Despite his injury, Tom Holland made a public appearance on Saturday, hosting a charity event in London for The Brothers Trust alongside his fiance and co-star Zendaya at Christie’s auction house.
‘Brand New Day’ is a crucial project for Sony and Marvel Studios, representing the fourth instalment in the Spider-Man franchise starring Tom Holland. The previous film, ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, achieved significant box office success, and the studios have high expectations for this entry.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film marks a departure from Jon Watts, who helmed the previous three Spider-Man films. Holland returns alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, with newcomers Sadie Sink and Tramell Tillman in the film. Mark Ruffalo and Jon Bernthal are also set to reprise their Marvel roles.
Last month, Sony shared footage of Tom Holland’s first day back on set in his new Spider-Man suit. In the video, Holland remarked: “It’s day one, my fourth ever day one on ‘Spider-Man’. It’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow. It’s also the first time we ever had fans on set day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them. We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’m just going to do my best, hopefully get it right, no pressure.”

‘Brand New Day’ began production in Glasgow in early August and is slated for theatrical release on July 31, 2026. The status of production is expected to be clarified following the upcoming meeting between Sony and Marvel Studios.
Tom Holland injury update
The actor reportedly suffered a mild concussion. While Holland won’t immediately return to filming, it is not expected to greatly delay the process, and thus is unlikely to have any bearing on the scheduled release date.
A source close to the production told Deadline that Holland will take a break from filming ‘out of precaution’, but added that the star is expected to be back on set and in front of the camera in a few days.
Meanwhile, the news of the injury drew concern from fans. “TOM HOLLAND BETTER BE OK,” one person remarked on X. Another said, “Prayers for Tom holland. Stay strong brother, stay strong.”

Yet another person exclaimed, “Omg I hope he ok!!”.
Holland, who does movies which oftentimes involve stunts, has had troubles before as well, due to the nature of the job. He spoke to Hollywood Reporter about the filming of Uncharted, the movie based on the video game. For filming, Holland had to get hit by a car 17 times.
“On Uncharted, there was a point in time where I had to make the call and say, ‘Guys, I’m going to need a weekend because if not, I’m going to sort of fall apart.’ I got quite a nasty bit of tendinitis in my hamstring, which held me back quite a bit, but thankfully, that was more toward the end of the shoot,” the actor had explained.
Ahead of the start of Spider Man’s filming in Scotland, Holland had expressed enthusiasm, saying he was ‘over the moon’ to be filming on location, after Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) was shot entirely on soundstages amid the Covid pandemic.
Spider Man: Brand New Day is expected to hit theaters on July 24, 2026.
Hospitalization out of precaution
According to a Deadline source, Holland took a “precautionary” break and will return to the set in a few days. Before the incident, Holland had expressed enthusiasm about returning to practical filming environments. He noted that Spider-Man: No Way Home had been shot almost entirely on soundstages due to pandemic restrictions, and he was looking forward to shooting in real locations again.
