Apple has announced iOS 26 with a redesigned interface and smarter features, dropping support for older iPhones. Check out the list.
Apple hasintroduced AI-powered shortcuts and dedicated actions for Writing Tools and Image Playground. The company’s AI model can also identify and summarise details, such as invoice in emails received from merchants. Users can also mix their favourite emojis, Genmojis, and descriptions for unique creations. Meanwhile, the new Foundation Models framework provides developers access to Apple’s on-device foundation model which powers Apple Intelligence.

Apple announced iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, the new and redesigned versions of its operating systems for iPhones and iPads. The upgrade introduces a ton of new features and improvements and brings a new design language called “Liquid Glass”. If you are wondering which iPhones and iPads will be getting iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, here’s a list of devices which will be getting the new operating system.
The OS upgrade brings fresh visual design and a bundle of smart features across the system. The update is now available for developers, with the public beta expected in the coming weeks. The stable release of iOS 26 is expected to arrive alongside the launch of new iPhones. However, not all iPhones will be compatible to receive iOS 26 update.
With the new iOS 26 Apple has introduced a redesigned user interface that Apple calls “Liquid Glass,” which changes the appearance of system menus, widgets, notifications, and the lock screen. Apple says with this new UI look, it wants to give more depth and motion to elements across the OS, though the core layout of the home screen remains the same. Apps like Photos and Camera have also received new layouts focused on ease of use and consistency.
The update also expands support for Apple Intelligence, the company’s on-device AI framework which powers features like writing tools, smarter message replies, image generation, and system-wide suggestions. However, access to these features depends heavily on the iPhone model. The big iOs26 update will need certain system configuration which the older iPHones are not capable of hosting.
