“I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see,” she posted, noting that the concerts are being pushed to September 2026.
Dolly Parton has postponed her upcoming Las Vegas concert residency due to health issues.
Dolly Parton, 79, was due to begin a six-concert run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on 4 December. She announced on social media that she has “been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures”.
Dolly Parton did not give details about the procedures but added light-heartedly: “As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile checkup, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”

Dolly Parton continued: “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see. You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you. While I’ll still be able to work on all of my projects from here in Nashville, I just need a little time to get show ready, as they say.
And don’t worry about me quittin’ the business because God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet. But, I believe He is telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you. I love you and thank you for understanding.”
It was set to be Dolly Parton’s first extended run of concerts in Las Vegas in 32 years.
Dolly Parton has kept up a regular release schedule in recent years, and reached the US and UK Top Five with her 2023 album Rockstar, featuring collaborations with pop and rock legends including Elton John, Debbie Harry, Sting and, on a cover of Let It Be, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. In 2024, the album Smoky Mountain DNA: Family, Faith and Fables, featured collaborations with Dolly Parton family members.

More recently, Dolly Parton collaborated with rockers Mötley Crüe on a new version of their song Home Sweet Home, released in June. A musical based on her life, Dolly Parton: A True Original Musical, premiered in Nashville in July, ahead of a hoped-for Broadway run.
Her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, died in March aged 82.
Las Vegas shows
Parton was scheduled to perform six shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace between December 4 and December 13, 2025, for her highly anticipated residency, Dolly: Live in Las Vegas.
When the residency was first announced, she shared her excitement: “To say I’m excited would be an understatement. I haven’t worked Vegas in years and I’ve always loved singing there. I’m looking so forward to the shows in The Colosseum at Caesars and I hope you are as well. See you there!”
‘Not the usual trip to my plastic surgeon!’
Parton did not disclose the nature of her health issues, but she was recently forced to pull out of a Dollywood event after being diagnosed with a kidney stone that she said was causing “a lot of problems”.
“Turned out it’d given me an infection, and the doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be travelling right this minute, so you need a few days to get better,'” she said in a video recorded for fans who attended the event on 17 September.

Earlier this year, she lost her beloved husband Carl after more nearly 60 years of marriage.
She later dedicated a new song, If You Hadn’t Been There, to his memory.
Announcing the postponement of her six-date run at The Colosseum, Parton said: “I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.
“As I joked with them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Her message continued: “In all seriousness, given this, I am not going to be able to rehearse and put together the show that I want you to see, and the show that you deserve to see.
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”

The musician is best known for a string of country crossover hits including Coat of Many Colors, I Will Always Love You, 9 To 5 and Jolene.
She had been due to perform those, along with dozens of fan favourites, in Las Vegas, in what would have been her first visit to the Strip since the 1990s – when she performed alongside her Islands In The Stream duet partner, Kenny Rogers.
Original tickets will be valid for the new dates, and refunds will be available.
