The U.S. has confirmed plans allowing Qatar to build an air force facility at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho.

The base will host Qatari F-15 fighter jets and pilots for joint training to strengthen military cooperation between the two nations.

Officials clarified that the site will remain under U.S. control — it’s not a standalone Qatari military base.

The project highlights deepening U.S.-Qatar defense ties and shared security goals in the Middle East.

While defense officials support the move, some critics have raised concerns over a foreign nation’s presence on U.S. soil.
