The Delhi High Court has issued a summons to the BBC in a defamation case
over its documentary on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The documentary, titled "India: The Modi Question," was released in January 2023 and
has been accused of defaming Modi by alleging that he was complicit in the 2002 Gujarat riots.

In 2023, the Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition that
sought to reopen the investigation into the 2002 Gujarat riots.
The petition was filed by Zakia Jafri, the widow of Ehsan Jafri, who was killed in the riots.
