‘Anaconda’ returns to cinemas this Christmas with a mix of action and comedy. The film brings a fresh take on creature chaos featuring actors Jack Black and Paul Rudd in pivotal roles.
The recently released trailer of ‘Anaconda’ by Sony Pictures Entertainment India brings a unique treatment to the classic survival-thriller. The meta reboot of the film is about filmmakers trying to recreate a live-action movie on Anacondas, till they come across a real-life threat.
Directed by Tom Gormican, the film follows Doug (Jack Black) and Griff (Paul Rudd) – two lifelong friends in the middle of a midlife crisis who set out to remake their favorite jungle movie. But when a real giant Anaconda crashes their passion project, the duo must turn from wannabe filmmakers into unlikely survivors in the Amazon.
The trailer features many edge-of-the seat moments as well as Black and Rudd’s humour, setting for a roller-coaster ride. Packed with creature thrills, hilarious misadventures, and edge-of-your-seat action, Anaconda promises to be a wild cinematic ride for audiences everywhere.
The film also stars Steve Zahn, Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Selton Mello. Produced by Brad Fuller, Andrew Form, Kevin Etten, Tom Gormican and others in key roles.
In the 1997 film Anaconda, a documentary crew, starring Jennifer Lopez, Jon Voight, Owen Wilson, and Ice Cube, is taken hostage by an unhinged hunter. He forces them on a dangerous quest to capture the world’s largest and deadliest snake.
Black was previously seen in the fantasy-adventure ‘A Minecraft Movie’ (2025). It also featured actors Jason Momoa, Danielle Brooks, Emma Myers, Sebastian Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge.
Rudd, known for his roles in ‘The Avengers’ and ‘Ant-Man’ series, was last seen in ‘Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire’ (2024).
Sony Pictures Entertainment India releases in India this Christmas, 25th December 2025 in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

Anaconda movie plot
The official movie plot is, Jack Black plays Doug, and Paul Rudd plays Griff. They’ve been best friends since childhood and want to remake their favorite movie. A midlife crisis makes them finally try, so they head to the Amazon to start filming. Things go wrong when a real giant anaconda appears, turning their funny, chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they want to make might actually kill them.

The original 1997 Anaconda cast had Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voight, Eric Stoltz, Jonathan Hyde, and Owen Wilson. It got bad reviews from critics but earned $136 million worldwide. There was a sequel in 2004, Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid, plus three more made-for-TV sequels, as stated by IGN.

The new Anaconda is a comedy. Paul Rudd said in the announcement, “You want to get scared? You want to laugh? You want to celebrate with your friends?”. The movie will release on December 25, 2025, and Rudd joked, “What you gonna do, open presents?”, as per the reports.
The director of Anaconda is Tom Gormican (The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F). The writers are Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten wrote the script. And the producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing through the Fully Formed banner.
